Collin Schuster

Collin Schuster has suffered with symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder since he was 10 years old, although he was only formally diagnosed when he was 16 years old. He has dealt with obsessions and compulsions related to perfectionism, symmetry, ordering and arranging, touching and tapping, “needing to know,” information hoarding, and needing things to be “just right.” He has received residential treatment at the OCD Institute in Belmont, Massachusetts and Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Since his time in residential treatment, he has co-founded the Connecticut affiliate of the International OCD Foundation and helps to run several support groups in the state of Connecticut. Thanks to exposure and response prevention therapy, Collin has reclaimed his life and now attends school at Central Connecticut State University where he studies music theory and composition. In his free time he likes to act, sing, play the piano, and write original music.
